In order to be considered for either program, you must apply using the external link above. Applications submitted by Handshake do not contain all required information and will not be reviewed.
As part of our mission to increase gender diversity among leaders leaders in the investment management industry, we welcome applications from sophomore students across all majors for this year’s Summer Intensive Program (SIP) and Online Intensive Programs (OIP). We also welcome applications from first-year students for our Online Intensive Program (OIP).

What programs are available?
- Summer Intensive Program (SIP): Four week tuition-free, in-residence educational experience at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania (housing and meals provided by GWI) with instruction from leading professors followed by a seven-week paid internship with one of 115+ partner investment firms. (Open to college sophomores)
- Online Intensive Program (OIP): A free, self-guided, asynchronous educational experience that offers the opportunity to learn from CFA Institute, Wall Street Prep, Project Destined, and Wharton Online. (Open to college first-years and sophomores).
Who is eligible?
- All majors are welcome - no finance experience is necessary!
- Applicants must be studying at a four-year U.S. or U. S.-style college or university or have a guaranteed transfer to one.
Where do these programs take place?
- SIP in-residence experience takes place in Philadelphia, PA. Internship placements take place across multiple cities in the U.S.
- OIP is a fully remote program
What are the costs associated with the programs?
- Summer Intensive Program is a tuition-free program subsidized by our partner organizations. There is no fee to attend our academic program. Additionally, we provide housing and meals during our on-campus program. Scholars are responsible for covering travel costs to and from assigned campuses and internship cities. Need-based financial assistance is available by application to assist with travel costs, internship housing, and additional expenses. Applications are available after admission to the program.
- Online Intensive Program is fully subsidized by Girls Who Invest. There are no costs involved for participants.
Class Standing & Graduation Date
Sophomores: Students with sophomore standing are eligible to apply for both the 2024 Summer Intensive and Online Intensive Programs. Sophomore standing applies to any student with an anticipated graduation between Fall 2025 and Spring 2026, and includes those who will be traditional college sophomores in the fall term of 2023, students who entered or are entering college with sophomore standing, and those who will have sophomore standing in the fall term of 2023 but are enrolled in a dual-degree program.
First-years: Students with first-year standing are eligible to apply for the 2024 Online Intensive Program only. First-year standing applies to any student with an anticipated graduation between Fall 2026 and Spring 2027, and includes those who will have first-year standing in the fall term of 2023.

Early Action: September 15, 2023
